Library consortia partner on innovative institutional repository solutions

(January 11, 2019). The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana is developing collaborative instances of two open-source institutional repository platforms, Islandora and Hyku, via partnerships with the Washington Research Library Consortium and the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc.. The work will include analyzing and improving the functionality and capacity of the software to support collaboration. To benefit the wider community, all developments from the partnerships will be openly available for adaptation.

LITA’s premier program on trends and advances in technology features an ongoing roundtable discussion by a panel of LITA technology experts and thought leaders. The panelists will describe changes and advances in technology they see having an impact on the library world and suggest what libraries might do to take advantage of these trends. This year’s panelists are:

Library.Solution upgrades to Version 5.4.1

(January 11, 2019). The Library Corporation announces the release of Library.Solution version 5.4.1. This new release includes many features in the ILS, most noteworthy the ease of use with batch editing in cataloging. Batch editing has been simplified by making titles and items editable with a drop-down menu for TLC's web-based, award winning software, LS2 Cataloging.

(January 11, 2019). Generation Fifth Applications is proud to announce our newest release of our flagship product, LAS 2019. This release is a true milestone. We are excited by the fact that when you upgrade to this version you will be on a standard version of LAS that is 100% under source code control. Unfortunately, in years past, with the prior management team, some sites had features that other sites were lacking. This is all being corrected with this release. Now, the good things that may have only been done in a few sites will be rolled out to all.
