OU Libraries Creates registry for artificial intellegence research

(February 18, 2019). The University of Oklahoma Libraries invites higher education institutions to share their artificial intelligence (AI) projects in a new online registry. Projects in Artificial Intelligence Registry (PAIR), is an online database to support collaboration and grant funding across higher education insitutions exploring AI research.

Reveal Digital is a small innovative company that uses a unique library crowd-funded model to support the development of open digital collections. In partnership with libraries, Reveal Digital raises funds to digitize, clear rights and make available special collections that have been aggregated from universities and other institutions. Now affiliated with ITHAKA, Reveal Digital will continue to provide an open access publishing model for special collections where libraries drive the program.

Springer Nature partners with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to improve data sharing

A new pilot project by Springer Nature and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) enables researchers to make their research datasets accessible alongside their published articles. From February 2019, all authors whose manuscripts are accepted for publication by npj Breast Cancer will be reviewed by a Research Data Editor who is responsible for cataloguing, describing and sharing the datasets that accompany the research paper.

Morgantown Public Library to upgrade collection to RFID with award-winning Tech Logic CircTRAK

(February 11, 2019). Tech Logic partnered with the Morgantown Public Library branch of the Morgantown Public Library System, serving Monongalia County, WVa., during the conversion of its collection to RFID. Morgantown has purchased RFID tags, tagging and staff station equipment, RFID security gates and the platinum award-winning CircTRAK shelf management system, which locates materials shown in the catalog as lost, missing, trace, claimed returned, and more. The library's goals for this conversion are to improve staff efficiencies and improve shelf management and security. In the future the library plans to offer streamlined RFID patron self-checkout.
