Multnomah County Library selects SirsiDynix Symphony

(February 9, 2018). Multnomah County Library has finalized a contract with SirsiDynix to implement the company's Symphony integrated library system. The ILS comprises the backbone of a library's technology environment, tying together transactions and data about patron checkouts and holds, ordering and cataloging new materials and it powers what patrons see on the library's website.

The Curry County Library Network goes live on ByWater Solutions Koha support

(February 9, 2018). ByWater Solutions, an open source community contributor and America's forefront provider of Koha support, announced today that the Curry County Library Network, of Curry County, Oregon. is now live on Koha with ByWater Solutions! ByWater completed the transition of the library's 170,000 plus holdings from TLC to the already existing and ByWater supported Coos County Library System Catalog. The library network's five libraries joined the Coos County shared catalog, bringing the total number of libraries up to 17 and the total number of combined holdings to over 500,000.

EBSCO Information Services announces next round of Solar Grant Submissions

(February 9, 2018). EBSCO Information Services will continue its commitment to helping libraries with sustainability efforts by bringing back an enhanced version of its EBSCO Solar grant program for 2018. As part of the EBSCO Solar initiative, EBSCO is soliciting grant applications to give libraries the opportunity to “go green” by funding solar installations. EBSCO has expanded the program for 2018 and is making three $100,000 grants available to applicants.

OCLC Research and ALISE name recipients of 2018 Library and Information Science Research Grants

Five Partners join Ex Libris in developing new Research Services Platform

(February 8, 2018). Ex Libris announced the establishment of a development partnership with Lancaster University, the University of Iowa, the University of Miami, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Sheffield. The partners will collaborate on the development of a new end-to-end research services platform, Ex Libris Esploro. This development program will give the partners a significant voice in shaping Esploro and its future roadmap, as well as an opportunity to engage with other development partners and the community of researchers.

LYRASIS announces 2018 Catalyst Fund applications now open

(February 7, 2018). LYRASIS announces that the 2018 Catalyst Fund, awarding $100,000 for new ideas from LYRASIS members, is now open for applications. The Catalyst Fund offers LYRASIS members the opportunity to explore potentially scalable new projects, ideas or programs that could impact the greater community. Applications will be reviewed by the LYRASIS Leaders Circle, the leadership tier of LYRASIS membership. The Catalyst Fund is available to LYRASIS Member institutions. Recipients will present the results of their projects at the LYRASIS Member Summit in October, 2018.

Bethel College and Saint Mary's College join the PALNI Consortium and the PALNI group OCLC WorldShare Management Services

(February 7, 2018). The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana announced the addition of two institutions, Bethel College and Saint Mary's College, to the PALNI family. Bethel College and Saint Mary's College join a highly engaged and collaborative group of private college and seminary libraries across the state bringing the number of supported institutions up to twenty-four. PALNI uses OCLC's WorldShare Management Services to provide direct, unmediated access to the collective collections of all the institutions without the need to export or import records. OCLC is also continuing development in WMS to support collaboration in analytics, licensing, and more.

Gale and California State Library expand partnership, tripling investment in Career Online High School

The California State Library is expanding its partnership with Gale, a Cengage company, signing a three-year agreement to continue and broaden its Career Online High School Program, which since 2015 has enabled California public libraries to offer qualified residents the opportunity to earn a free, accredited high school diploma.
