Follett releases new version of market-leading Destiny

(January 14, 2019). Na een voortraject van enkele jaren en een intensieve 'proof of concept'-fase is het zover:bibliotheek Bree start vandaag 14 januari als eerste met het nieuwe Bibliotheeksysteem! Alle instellingen en parameters werden ingericht, de data van titels, exemplaren, leners en circulatie werden overgezet en tot slot kregen de bibmedewerkers vorige week een uitgebreide opleiding. Zo is Bree klaar om als pionier in het Bibliotheeksysteem uit te lenen. De trein is nu echt vertrokken!

Mitinet Library Services receives Platinum in 2019 Modern Library Awards from LibraryWorks

(January 14, 2019). Mitinet Library Services, a leader in metadata management, is pleased to announce it has received a platinum award in LibraryWorks' fifth annual Modern Library Awards (MLAs.) The MLAs were created to recognize the top products and services in the library industry in a truly unbiased format. Products and services were submitted in the fall using a simple application, and then were posted on a private site with an enhanced description and attendant materials. These products were batched into small groups and sent to the LibraryWorks database of more than 80,000 librarians at public, K-12, academic, and special libraries. Only customers with experience with these products/services in their facilities were permitted to judge the products/services, resulting in a truly unbiased score.

Library consortia partner on innovative institutional repository solutions

The Private Academic Library Network of Indiana is developing collaborative instances of two open-source institutional repository platforms, Islandora and Hyku, via partnerships with the Washington Research Library Consortium and the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc.. The work will include analyzing and improving the functionality and capacity of the software to support collaboration. To benefit the wider community, all developments from the partnerships will be openly available for adaptation.

This new release includes many features in the ILS, most noteworthy the ease of use with batch editing in cataloging. Batch editing has been simplified by making titles and items editable with a drop-down menu for TLC's web-based, award winning software, LS2 Cataloging.

(January 11, 2019). Generation Fifth Applications is proud to announce our newest release of our flagship product, LAS 2019. This release is a true milestone. We are excited by the fact that when you upgrade to this version you will be on a standard version of LAS that is 100% under source code control. Unfortunately, in years past, with the prior management team, some sites had features that other sites were lacking. This is all being corrected with this release. Now, the good things that may have only been done in a few sites will be rolled out to all.

National Library of Cuba collection registered in WorldCat to benefit researchers worldwide

Public Libraries Achieve Record-Breaking Ebook and Audiobook Usage in 2018

Rakuten OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for over 43,000 libraries and schools worldwide, reported that 2018 public library spending and usage of ebooks, audiobooks and magazines reached record levels. Libraries served over 274 million digital books to card holders in the past 12 months, a 22% increase over the previous year, which is the highest growth rate since 2015.
