Fondazione Biblioteca Europea di Informazione e Cultura to build digital library on Ex Libris Rosetta and Alma Solutions

(May 9, 2018). Ex Libris announced that the Fondazione Biblioteca Europea di Informazione e Cultura (European library of information and culture, or BEIC) has selected the Ex Libris Alma library services platform and Rosetta digital asset management and preservation solution to more effectively manage the resources of BEIC's digital collections. The BEIC Foundation will be replacing its open source software and migrating its current local installation of the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution to a cloud-based implementation.

Public libraries in Norway to add records of collections to WorldCat through the Norwegian Library Center

The Norwegian Library Center (Biblioteksentralen SA) is working with OCLC to enable public libraries in Norway to load records of their collections into WorldCat, the world's most comprehensive database of information about library collections, increasing the visibility of these collections around the world.

EBSCO Information Services announces four winners for the second round of the EBSCO FOLIO Innovation Challenge

(May 7, 2018). EBSCO Information Service is providing grants to four academic libraries as part of the EBSCO FOLIO Innovation Challenge. The grant program is awarding up to $100,000 in grants to libraries to develop innovative technology solutions that address the challenges academic libraries face. The second round's winning proposals came from the University of Alabama, the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, the Johns Hopkins University and Lehigh University.

(May 4, 2018). Civica announced four new partnerships with Australian libraries. Civica currently supports over 2,000 library installations worldwide. The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, City of Gosnells, and the City of Kwinana from Western Australia, as well as the Northern Beaches Council from New South Wales have chosen Spydus to optimise workflows and back-end operations while improving library service delivery and customer experience.

(May 3, 2018). EBSCO Health announced the launch of a shared decision making product, Option Grid decision aids. The Option Grid concept was originally created by Professors Glyn Elwyn and Marie-Anne Durand in 2010 and supported by work and research done at Dartmouth College. EBSCO Health is working with Professors Elwyn and Durand to deliver a product that is accessible and, powered by DynaMed Plus, always aligned with the most recent evidence.

New Trust Center demonstrates Ex Libris commitment to transparency, security, and privacy

This public portal provides Ex Libris customers and potential customers with in-depth information about the security, privacy, compliance, and availability of Ex Libris solutions. Preservica makes it easier for organizations to meet long-term GDPR obligations

Active digital preservation specialist Preservica has announced a suite of new GDPR compliance enhancements, to further simplify how organizations meet their controller obligations for personal data that needs to be retained over the long-term. The capabilities build on existing GDPR functionality in Preservica to provide new levels of classification, search, and reporting – making it easier for organizations to know their data as well as comply with GDPR requirements such as the ‘right to be forgotten' (Article 17) while still meeting their ‘responsibility to remember' for digital information that must be retained for decades for regulatory, HR or legal needs.

Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) selects Auto-Graphics SHAREit for resource sharing

(April 5, 2018). Auto-Graphics, Inc., provider of the first Web-based library resource management solution to library consortia and innovative developer of many resource sharing industry “firsts”, announces that its cloud-based resource sharing solution, SHAREit, has been selected by Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS). RAILS serves approximately 1,300 academic, public, school, and special library members, which represent more than 4,200 library facilities in a 27,000 square mile area across northern and western Illinois. Implementation of its new resource sharing system, named Find More Illinois, began in February 2018 with a pilot project of 21 academic, public, and school libraries from three shared catalog consortia. Expansion to other Illinois libraries that wish to participate is expected to begin as soon as fall 2018.
