Academic software Kopernio receives funding from Innovate UK to accelerate one-click journal article access for academics and researchers worldwide

We are proud to announce that Kopernio (http://www.kopernio.com) has received funding and additional support from Innovate UK, the UK Government's innovation agency, to accelerate the development of Kopernio's one-click journal article access technology to simplify more than 2.4bn research article downloads per year. Innovate UK will provide financial support to extend Kopernio's institutional coverage, and enhance Kopernio's integrations with journals and publishers. In addition, it will also provide Kopernio with access to the Enterprise Europe Network and Innovate2Succeed, further embedding Kopernio in the European startup ecosystem.

Göteborg University Library is now using Koha

(April 11, 2018). Göteborg University Library announced that they are using Koha as an integrated library system. The library's adaptation of Koha's included a wide range of development in areas such as Elasticsearch, libris import, edifact orders, loan card registration forms, custom-designed front-end folders, as well as, interface customization and integration with surrounding systems such as discovery, remote lending, printing systems, group room booking, and public computers. The Primo Discovery System is integrated through a proprietary order application, where borrowers make their orders via links in the Primo hitlists.

NISO 2018 Strategic Directions document identifies emerging trends for future standards work

(April 11, 2018). The Architecture Committee of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) has published its 2018 update of the NISO Strategic Directions document which will be used by its leadership groups, the NISO Topic Committees, to direct the future development portfolios of standards and recommended practices. The three NISO Topic Committees -- Information Creation & Curation, Information Discovery & Interchange, and Information Policy & Analysis-- produced a list of general trends and themes in their respective areas of work, noting these information issues affecting libraries, publishers, system vendors and other members of the information distribution community. The document describes the inter-relations between these community stakeholders and, in some cases, potential overlaps in committee work. The NISO Topic Committees are using the updated 2018Strategic Directions document to prioritize potential future activities where NISO should be engaged in developing new standards and recommended practices.
