The American University of Beirut Joins ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Publishing Program

(November 30, 2018). The American University of Beirut, an esteemed teaching-centered research university in Lebanon and the Middle East, has signed an agreement to contribute its graduate works to the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses database, the leading database of dissertations and theses from the world's greatest universities. It's the first university in Lebanon to contribute to the database, expanding the breadth of international content in PQDT.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office implements Knowvation, hosted and supported by PTFS Europe

(November 30, 2018). The Foreign & Commonwealth Office uses Knowvation for its new UK Treaties Online service. Part of GOV.UK, the Knowvation provides full-text search and retrieval access to the UK's bilateral and multilateral treaties documents and is accessible from desktop and mobile devices. PTFS Europe implemented Knowvation and provides on-going hosting and support services.

Springer and Labster partner to bring students in Germany cutting-edge science education materials

(November 30, 2018). Springer and Labster announced a partnership that connects traditional textbook material with computer-animated simulations. This collaboration will help to shape the future of science education by changing the way students learn science. The enhanced textbook material is available via Springer's content platform SpringerLink or through purchasing a specific textbook.

OCLC awarded IMLS funds to expand Small Libraries Create Smart Spaces project

OCLC has received a $249,710 award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to expand its National Leadership Grant project, Small Libraries Create Smart Spaces, to more small and rural public libraries across the U.S.In the first two years of the project, OCLC partnered with the Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) to guide and support 15 small public libraries in 12 states as they applied principles of design thinking to create space for social, active learning at the library. Participating libraries completed an online training program led by WebJunction, OCLC's free online learning community for library staff; and received a $5,000 sub-grant for materials, equipment and furnishings for their reimagined space. One of the libraries, Madison County Public Library, has been recognized as Best Small Library in America 2018 by Library Journal; renovations to the library were supported by the Smart Spaces program.

The University of Chicago selects TIND IR and TIND RDM

(November 29, 2018). TIND was selected by the University of Chicago to provide their cloud-based TIND Institutional Repository (TIND IR) and TIND Research Data Management (TIND RDM). TIND's systems were chosen in order to better meet growing needs and interests around data sharing and preservation, open access, and reproducible research results. UChicago is migrating its existing research output from DSpace Direct. TIND IR and TIND RDM will be implemented as a single, unified solution for managing, disseminating and preserving all research output and research datasets.

As the 2019 Follett Challenge entry deadline nears, schools and K-12 districts hoping to showcase their innovative educational programs and share in the $200,000 in products and/or services will need to finish their entries soon. The deadline to enter is 1 p.m. EST Friday, Dec. 14, and there are vast resources available on the website (www.FollettChallenge.com) to help entrants get started or complete the process.

Equinox migrates Public Library of Catasauqua to the PaILS/SPARK Consortium

(November 29, 2018). Equinox announced the successful migration of the Public Library of Catasauqua to Evergreen within the Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative and the Pennsylvania Integrated Library System (PaILS) SPARK Consortium. Equinox provided project management and configuration as part of the migration in addition to data hosting and support. To prepare for the migration remote and onsite training was provided by Equinox to the Public Library of Catasauqua staff.

Having been awarded university status earlier this year, Ravensbourne University were keen to establish clear library workflows from early on and improve engagement with academics across the university. Academic libraries in New Zealand migrate to Tipasa

Four leading academic libraries in New Zealand have migrated to Tipasa™, the first cloud-based interlibrary loan management system that automates routine borrowing and lending functions for individual libraries. The University of Canterbury, University of Waikato, Auckland University of Technology and University of Otago expect to go-live in December 2018.

Universidad del País Vasco (ESEHU) now live with OCLC WorldShare Management Services

The University of the Basque Country, the public research institution in the Basque Country of Spain, is now using OCLC WorldShare Management Services as its library management system. ESEHU has 16 branches and almost 1 million bibliographic records and serves more than 66,000 students, faculty and staff.

Axiell Quria expands customer base in Norway with additional libraries

(November 13, 2018). Axiell, the leading vendor to public libraries in Europe, today announces new customers for Axiell Quria in Norway. In September 2017, Drammen Library became the first library in the world to use Quria, Axiell's cloud-based library services platform. With the forthcoming municipal assembly between Drammen, Svelvik and Nedre Eiker, libraries in these municipalities will all switch to Quria. This means that Quria will go from serving over 68,000 inhabitants to almost 100,000.
