Follett expands Follett Book Fairs into Texas market

(April 4, 2018). Follett announced Follett Book Fairs, which launched regionally at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year, will expand into Texas, effective August 2018. Nader Qaimari, Follett School Solutions' president, made the announcement at the 2018 Texas Library Association Annual Conference in Dallas, and said Follett Book Fairs will begin with PreK-8 schools in the Houston and Dallas areas.

State University of New York Selects Ex Libris Alma and Primo Solutions for Libraries on 61 Campuses

(April 3, 2018). Ex Libris announced that the State University of New York has chosen the Ex Libris Alma library services platform and Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution to be used by 61 libraries of the university system. The next-generation Alma platform will replace the Ex Libris Aleph integrated library system, while the Primo solution will be implemented in place of the various discovery layers that have been in use up to now, including the EBSCO Discovery Service.

19,000 libraries to participate in Big Library Read, the world's largest digital book club

(April 3, 2018). No money required, all you need is a library card. From April 2-16, thousands of readers worldwide will have access to borrow, read, and discuss Jennifer McGaha's debut memoir Flat Broke with Two Goats with no waitlists, or holds. During the two week period, readers can borrow the eBook or audiobook by visiting their library's digital collection or by downloading the Libby app. More than 19,000 libraries are set to participate in the world's largest global digital book club.

Follett forms Advisory Board to help K-12 Schools genrefy libraries

A new advisory board has been formed by Follett to help K-12 school libraries make the transition from the Dewey Decimal System to a more student friendly, bookstore-like layout based on genres. The Genrefication Advisory Board, comprised of nearly 20 national and international librarians and media specialists, will meet for the first time this week at the 2018 Texas Library Association Annual Conference in Dallas to help establish a set of genre standards.

University of Wolverhampton selects Ex Libris Alma, Primo, and Leganto for new digital library system

Ex Libris announced that the United Kingdom's University of Wolverhampton has selected the Ex Libris Alma library services platform, Primo discovery and delivery solution, and Leganto course reading list solution. The university library will be migrating from the Capita Alto library management system and integrating the Leganto solution with Wolverhampton's virtual learning environment and student portal to improve pathways to course readings.

Ex Libris announced that Japan's Keio University and Waseda University have chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and services for the universities' libraries. The Alma platform will replace the Innovative Millennium integrated library system used by Waseda and the Ex Libris Aleph integrated library system at Keio University.

(March 27, 2018). ProQuest has teamed with Cambridge University Press to provide libraries access to the Cambridge Core platform and content via the ProQuest OASIS platform. Over 30,000 ebook titles across 36 subject areas from Cambridge University Press and other publishers become available through the OASIS® selection and purchase system beginning 27th March 2018. Cambridge Core content and platform were developed with extensive user testing and input from more than 10,000 researchers, librarians and authors to ensure support of research and learning goals.
